The bull dog has been the mascot for P.S. 229, Emanuel Kaplan School for many, many years. Students always want to know his name…but he didn’t have one. Imagine, being a school mascot and not having a name. Ms. Mary Messina, our parent coordinator, decided to remedy this situation and run a “Name our Bull Dog contest.” Many classes and staff members entered and thought of wonderful names, but the winner of the contest is class K-11, Ms. Sciacca’s class along with Ms. Priscilla Smith and Ms. Joyce Woesthoff who all submitted the same name: MANNY, short for Emanuel of course. K-ll won a pizza party and time to watch a movie with popcorn. Look for Manny around the building, and don’t worry he doesn’t bite.
Below are pictures of Manny traveling throughout our building. Now people are asking, "Where's Manny"
